Restore Reach 25/26
A fruitful year of bringing therapeutic outreach, safe spaces, and community recovery to Grimsby.
Project Overview & Highlights
We are proud to have reached 52 men and women so far, providing each with a dedicated course of four reflexology treatments.
A Successful Partnership in Grimsby
We have had a great year of running Restore Reach in Grimsby, working predominantly from the Meridian Moments shop in Grimsby Town Centre. We have found this central venue to be highly accessible for our beneficiaries, featuring a sheltered bus stop right outside.
This partnership has been extremely fruitful. Meridian Moments is known locally for 1:1 therapies such as holistic treatments and relaxation methods, while Be Present Workshops brings expertise in group work, training, and our popular book clubs. We have successfully utilized their social media outreach to help coordinate our groups.
Upgrading the Therapy Experience
Using a private space gives us far more control over the environment, ethics, and how people feel the moment they walk in. While working from Navigo's complimentary room last year was a great stepping stone, this new setup allows us to keep standards high going forward. We are providing a real, premium therapy room experience for those who might never otherwise have been able to access one, creating equal opportunity for some of society's most vulnerable groups.
Expanding Our Reach and Partners
We are currently on track to reach our target of 150 beneficiaries by Christmas, thanks in part to our new networking partner, Thrive Tribe, which we connected with at events run by our local council.
We keep strict records of our reach via physical client sheets stored under GDPR regulations. This helps us track project metrics and invite beneficiaries to new groups we add, such as our monthly well-being groups and book clubs hosted at the Meridian Moments venue.
Engaging Male Clients & New Services
While only four participants so far have been men, we are actively working to expand this number. We are engaging with Andy's Man Club and the local unisex Women's Aid site next week, and our partners at Thrive Tribe have already been successful in encouraging more men to experience our cozy space.
Due to the deeply relaxing nature of reflexology, we have found that male clients open up to us. We are currently developing a male-appropriate referral plan with local organisations to support these gentlemen and prevent isolation on a weekly basis.
Based on feedback, we are also planning to add an alcohol-free karaoke session at the shop, working alongside The Great Escape to support individuals recovering from addiction and domestic abuse.
